A globe valve is a linear-motion valve that starts, stops, and throttles (regulates) fluid flow in a pipeline, named for its spherical body. It works using a movable plug or disc that moves up and down perpendicular to a stationary ring seat, creating a gradual opening or closing to control flow, making it excellent for precise regulation but causing a higher pressure drop than other valves like gate valves.
